Susan Fox, RCHS alternative education teacher, sees many advantages of EdOptions summer school program. “It was designed as a recovery summer school for students who failed the SOL or failed a class. This program can keep them on track for graduation. But some students simply take advantage of the opportunity to improve a grade or enrich their transcripts. There are various reasons for attending. There are social benefits for the students, too. This isn’t the normal social dynamic of regular school. There aren’t as many distractions. They can focus and do their work. It gives them another venue to be successful academically.”

Clinton Students Get a Boost from Online Technology

Summer vacation for most students includes rest and a whole lot of fun. But a growing number of Mississippi students are back in the classroom in hopes of improving their performances in math, English, science and social studies. Clinton High School Assistant Principal Kelly Heath says what makes these classes so appealing is the nontraditional setting. The program has become so popular that the district has extended it to all students beginning with 6th grade. Director Angel Olinger says the summer online program is especially beneficial to students at high risk of dropping out.

Rep. Moran visited Offender Aid and Restoration's headquarters in Arlington, VA on Sept. 21st to thank Sheriff Beth Arthur for implementing OAR's education program at the county jail. Educational Options Foundation and MCSO Graduation

Six students received their high school diploma along with others who were recognized for earning their General Education Development (GED) diploma at a very special graduation ceremony at the Lower Buckeye Jail in Tempe, Arizona. These achievements are as a result of a partnership between Arizona's Maricopa County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) and The Educational Options Foundation. As a result of the partnership, MCSO began offering incarcerated juveniles the opportunity to use secure Internet-delivered content to prepare for a GED diploma, the state standardized test (AIMS), or earn high school credits for a diploma.
